Virtual Training Class

 

Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Hazardous Materials Management team is dedicated to working safely on all incidents and building relationships with local responders and UPRR has teamed up with TRANSCAER to provide a virtual training class to equip first responders with the knowledge needed to respond safely to a railroad emergency. This 65-minute virtual training class will be repeated on various days to accommodate the schedules of both career and volunteer departments.

Course Description:
The training will include an overview of the UPRR Hazardous Materials Management team and how to contact the railroad.  UPRR will review common railway information that would be helpful for first responders and explain the importance of teamwork to bring an incident to a successful conclusion. The course will also review the different types of rail cars and hazards that a first responder might encounter. Finally, the course will discuss responding safely during an incident, hazards around the railroad right-of-way, where to find needed information, and how to read and understand a train consist in order to better protect the citizens of your community.  

Questions:
Due to the number of participants, questions will be answered by UPRR Hazmat using the “Question” feature within the virtual training class.
