ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF – FULL TIME The City of Altoona, WI, population 9,320 invites applications from highly qualified fire professionals to join and lead the Altoona Fire Department.  The successful applicant will have, at a minimum, the following:

·         A valid WI driver’s license

·         Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services Certification for Fire Detection, Prevention, & Suppression Inspector License

·         Certified State of Wisconsin Fire Inspector I

·         Certified State of Wisconsin Firefighter II

·         Certified State of Wisconsin Fire Officer I

·         FEMA certificates: IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, & IS-800b  

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         7-years of demonstrated progressive fire leadership experience

·         Fire Officer supervisory experience

·         Residency within 10 minutes response time to the fire station within one year of hire

Pre-employment screening is required.

Expectation of a starting date after January 1, 2024.

Salary range is $61,659.40-$79,276.37 + excellent benefits.
